All staff at Windsor, are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all children. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, secure, and supported, and we strive to create an environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

We recognise our statutory responsibility under the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and follow the guidance outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (DfE, 2025) and Working Together to Safeguard Children (DfE, 2023). All staff, governors, and volunteers share this commitment and understand their role in safeguarding children.

Our safeguarding aims are to:

  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment where children feel confident to speak and are listened to.
  • Ensure all staff are trained in safeguarding and child protection procedures, and understand the signs of abuse and neglect.
  • Promote safe practices in recruitment, ensuring all staff and volunteers undergo appropriate checks including enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any concerns or disclosures, following our Child Protection Policy and referring to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Educate children about personal safety, online safety, and healthy relationships through our curriculum and pastoral support.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to safeguard children and support families.

We recognise that some children may be more vulnerable to harm and we always take a sensitive, child-centred approach to all safeguarding concerns. Our policies are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect changes in legislation and best practice.

Our school is part of Operation Encompass, a national initiative run in partnership with Merseyside Police, which supports children who have experienced domestic abuse. When police attend a domestic abuse incident where a child is present, they notify the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) before the start of the next school day. This allows us to provide timely and appropriate support to the child, helping them feel safe and cared for during what may be a difficult time. The information shared is treated with strict confidentiality and is used solely to support the child’s wellbeing. At Windsor all of our Safeguarding Team have completed the Key Adult training
