The music curriculum will be embedded in classroom activities through the use of the online music programme ‘Charanga.’ This will ensure a clear, comprehensive and progressive scheme is followed in line with the National Curriculum and EYFS outcomes. Children will have the opportunity to make, play and analyse music both through singing and learning a tuned instrument – the glockenspiel. As well as this, children in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and years 3, 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to learn an untuned instrument through drumming sessions with ‘Beatlife’ who are outside music practitioners. Children in year 4 will work with our local music hub ‘Resonate’ to learn the clarinet. Whilst in school, children will be able to enjoy music in a variety of ways, either as a listener, a performer or a composer. They will become immersed in a varied program where they will be able to discover their areas of strength, as well as areas they might like to explore further.
